Reducing the Carbon Footprint of Travel

The tourism sector contributes at least 8% of global GHG emissions but is also highly vulnerable to the impact of climate change. This talk explores the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis from the lens of tourism. Through case studies of tour operators and the hospitality sector, we gain a deeper understanding of Scope 1, Scope 2 and value chain emissions, meaningful community-based offsets, and climate change storytelling through tourism. As travellers, we learn how to tell greenwashing from real action, travel more sustainably, and deal with flying guilt.
